What our clients have to say

Dear Mary Schrag & Staff,

After living with chronic pain for over 30 years, my journey reached a turning point in 2012 when I began experiencing severe cervical spine pain. I was referred to physical therapy at another facility, & after completing 20 sessions, I was told there was nothing more they could do for me. I left feeling defeated, frustrated, & on the verge of giving up.

Dr. Mill’s wasn’t ready to give up on me. He referred me to Physical Therapy Specialists Clinic, (PTSC) even though I had already used all my PT visits for the year. Continuing therapy meant paying out of pocket, & while the financial burden was heavy, the pain was worse—I knew I had to keep fighting for my health.

From the moment I walked into PTSC, I felt hope again. Their state-of-the-art equipment, especially the MedX system, was unlike anything I’d seen before. Within just three weeks of starting therapy, I began to feel real, noticeable relief. After completing my treatment plan, I felt like a different person. For the first time in years, my pain was manageable, & I had my life back.  That first success gave me the strength to keep going.

I had ablation done two times, which is radio frequency to burn nerves in my lower back.  I actually was teaching from a wheelchair at this time.  I came to PTSC again for help before surgery.  I later did undergo surgery to have an L5 disc implanted in my spine. When my lower back pain returned yet again, I again turned to PTSC. This time, my T8 disc was bulging, and I was barely able to walk. After therapy, not only was I standing and walking again, but follow-up scans showed my disc was no longer bulging. It was amazing.

Before another major surgery, I came in for “prehab” at PTSC. After just six sessions, I was able to walk from my car to the office without a cane or walker, something I hadn’t done in a long time. Doctors told me I’d be out of work for six months. Thanks to PTSC, I was back on the job in less than six weeks with very few restrictions.

Throughout my journey, I’ve dealt with fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, sciatic nerve issues, & even a serious fall that left me with a cracked shoulder bone, torn tendons,& rotator cuff damage. PTSC has helped me through it all. From my feet & hands to my back & shoulder—they’ve been by my side every step of the way.

Their team works closely with my entire medical support system—my orthopedic doctor, rheumatologist (Dr. Anne Winkler), family doctor (Dr. Aaron Mills) —& most importantly, they treat me like a person, not just a patient. A special shout out to Cyndi for always being caring & knowledgeable.  They adapted my therapy to meet my needs, & they truly care about my recovery.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:

Take a chance—and don’t give up. Pain can steal so much from your life, but with the right care & support, you can take it back.

Dear Mary Schrag and Staff,

I am writing to thank all of you for giving me back the use of my right hand and arm.  I was not a very good lefty.

I dislocated my right shoulder on 03/28/2024 and then had surgery on 05/13/2024.  I initially saw Brittany for the eval in April and few visits that were prehab.  I resumed therapy post op on 06/10/2024 until my discharge in September 2024.

I was always greeted by Kayla with a smile and a schedule for the following week even though I know she was always busy.

I was treated by each of the therapists, and they contributed to my full recovery.  They were all professional and courteous.  More importantly they each pushed me on strengthening, endurance and range of motion.

Cyndi gave me a tip I used on every visit because I found it very useful.  After observing me walking with bands she instructed me to hold a towel between my elbow and body.  She also noticed I was leaning back while rowing weights.  She instructed me to stand straight and move one foot back a little if necessary.  I can’t sneak anything by her!

I thought they were killing me with stretches the first few times, but they did get better.  As soon as I got used to an exercise, they either increased weight or repetitions.

I hated the wall climber, but as I progressed, it was an excellent tool to measure my improvement and thanks for making me do those cones.  I can now reach the top cabinet shelf with my right hand.

Thanks to each and everyone of you I have full range of motion or nearly that in my right shoulder.  It was pretty much useless throughout July of last year.  I can now raise my right hand and arm up beside my ear both frontal and lateral.  I can circle my arm and shoulder completely around both front and back.  The little finger side is still numb through 4th and 5th digits but as you recall initially Dr. Franklin believed it was due to ulnar nerve but later decided it was brachial plexus injury.

Parker, I am still doing the exercises you discharged me with 3 times a week.  If I miss a day my shoulder feels stiff, so I look forward to doing them the rest of my life.  You can’t argue with the results, and I am certainly pleased with the results.  You know I was still using my left hand to eat into July last year and maybe longer.

I love you all and you are excellent at what you do!

~Connie

“I would like to say a few words about the staff her at PTSC. When I came in for my first treatment I came in a wheelchair, I couldn’t walk or even stand up. After about four treatments I went from the wheelchair to a walker and am still recovering. I am a believer in this clinic!”

“My experience with Physical Therapy Specialists of Mountain Grove has exceeded my expectations. I spent a total of 16 weeks in therapy and couldn’t be happier with the results it produced. Entering into the building I was greeted by a welcoming smile in the reception area. From intake to therapy all the staff I dealt with were extremely professional, always willing to answer any questions I may have had and they never made me feel like I wasn’t keeping up if I happened to of had an “off” day. Every staff member I came into contact with in Mountain Grove made me feel at ease during my time spent with them and each of them were very knowledgeable in their area of work. If you’re looking to “rehab” an old injury, need some “fine tuning” on your body or recuperating from surgery and need physical therapy, I highly recommend this place. Thank you to all the staff who made my therapy sessions worth the hard work!!”

“My name is Payton Drake and I tore my ACL and had to have surgery to repair it. After surgery, I had to go to Physical Therapy for six months to regain my strength. The Physical Therapy Specialist Clinic helped me greatly. Because of them, I now have the ability and strength to play sports. I had to go to Physical Therapy three times a week. This place became my second home. Everyone who works their cares about your recovery. They always asked how I was doing on my way in and smiled at me on my way out. Through all the hard wok, they made it fun. There was never a day that I did not laugh. I began to look forward to going to physical therapy. Sometimes I was pushed to my limits, but it only made me closer to getting back to playing sports again. When they saw me struggling with an exercise, they would encourage me. I am so thankful for him and all the people that helped me at the Physical Therapy Specialist Clinic during my recovery.”

“I had a Rotator cuff surgery on my left shoulder within a week of surgery Dr. Gregory Hubbard had me in therapy. The staff immediately started working with me to get my arm back where it should be for me to use again. With their consistency and care and concern for 4.5 months I am allowed to freely move my arm with no pain. We really have a great team of specialists such a wonderful asset to our community. Thank you all so much for the concern, care and love everyone has contributed to my recovery.”

“I had an excellent checkup with Dr. Seagrave yesterday at the Mercy Orthopedic Clinic. He seemed fairly astonished at the full range of motion in my operative knee. He said the “big guys” don’t usually achieve that and if he had known he would have done both knees at the same time. I thanked him for the thought, but told him I don’t think I could have tolerated it. He seemed even more astonished when I told him this was my therapist’s first knee replacement rehab. All the folks at Mercy seem to know you and PTSC.We’ll do the second knee in late September or so. I’ll continue open gym until surgery and then be back for full-blown therapy again. Many thanks to your entire staff. They are all wonderful! In my immediate case, John Tollenaar is a real champ!!!!!!!!!! Thanks”

“I am very satisfied with the services. Before I had my hip replacement I was limping, unable to walk very far and could not stand for very long. After my hip replacement, I was very pleased with my progress in regaining function. After the last 6 weeks of twice a week therapy I am excited to say I have regained strength in my leg that I had not had in 20 years. For many years I walked still legged. When I started therapy I told the therapist I wanted to be able to function normally and be able to run. They said I was probably expecting too much to think I would be running. Guess what I am now able to run! I am very pleased with my results.”

“Intercounty Electric originally joined the WorkSteps program offered by Physical Therapy Specialists Clinic for our Operations department when it was just a pilot program. Today, our entire co-op team benefits from the program. PTSC has helped us more accurately assess the physical requirements and needs of the different jobs at our co-op. We want to make sure our employees don’t reinjure themselves when returning to work after any type of injury or surgery; and in that aspect, PTSC helps keep our employees safe and healthy. We are grateful for these services, and we appreciate the professional and knowledgeable staff at PTSC who serve our co-op team.”

-Doug Lane, Director of Operations Intercounty Electric 2018

“The program itself, along with the very talented and professional staff, has greatly reduced our risk of future injuries and definitely helps us employ people who we are reasonably sure can perform the duties of the job.”

“I was having migraines 2-3 times a week with lingering effects. I was having a great deal of pain and it was affecting my overall quality of life. Elizabeth was able to help me regain my life and live a more pain free life. It has helped me feel like a stronger better me.”

– Cheri Carda

“I came to physical therapy after a car accident. I came in with severe back pain, chest and left knee pain. Mary showed me a lot of stretches and exercises to help me deal with my pain. In a little over 4 weeks I was completely back pain free, my chest was better, and I got a referral a doctor for my left knee because she suspected a ligament tear.”

– Anastasia Gantyuk

“For over three years I suffered with debilitating vertigo. I tried the Epley maneuver at home without much success. Then I decided to ask PTSC for help. After just one visit, my vertigo stopped and I have not been dizzy since. I would highly recommend PTSC if you are having or know of someone having vertigo issues. Gratefully,”

– Trudy

“Happy to be aware of a great professional and personal workforce. Thank you,”

"It was a pleasure to have such professional people to work with. Who would have ever thought that at 69 years old and hitting the road from a motorcycle accident at over 110 mph that I would have such a great recovery. The professionalism extended by all of the therapist who worked with me was second to none. Again I am pleased with the progress made and extend my thanks and gratitude to Cindy , James , Violet , Emily, Randy and all who helped me to recover from my accident. Sincerely and Appreciatively"

- Ralph E Alkire Sr.

"I just wanted to send you a little, Happy Friday note and let you know how much I love your therapists, Violet and James, from the Mountain Grove site. I had a knee replacement in July and have been working with them since July 20th. They have always been helpful, understanding, and compassionate to my needs. Though I can’t really say I’m looking forward to replacing the other knee in December, I am at least comforted knowing I will have great therapists to work with again. Have a great weekend!Sincerely"
